Internship Experience

logo2014 (1).png

During the summer of 2014 I was given the opportunity to work with the Downtown Nashville Partnership, a downtown leadership organization whose mission is to make downtown Nashville, Tennessee a compelling urban environment in which to live, work, play and invest. The Downtown Partnership focuses on business recruitment and retention, residential and retail development, transportation and communications.

My responsibilities included:

  • I maintained an online events calendar showcasing the happenings in downtown Nashville for any given day of the week. Many event listings came with short write-ups that I edited to match the version of AP style already present on the site. Some events required extensive research to accurately represent what was going to occur.

  • I wrote a weekly newsletter titled "Downtown Details" that showcased the major events in downtown Nashville for the week. "Downtown Details" is delivered to nearly 16,000 recipients each week. In total, I wrote 12 editions of "Downtown Details."

  • There were several photoshoot days throughout my time at the Downtown Partnership. The majority of them included photographing locations such as new businesses or remodeled locations, walking the streets to capture whatever I find and updating old images. I also walked around downtown photographing people enjoying the vibrant city of Nashville. There were two days of planned photoshoots with volunteer models who participated in several services facilitated by the Partnership so promotional photographs could be taken.

  • Many of the tasks I worked on led up to the Downtown Partnership's Annual Meeting where an Annual Report is published. The majority of the photographs I was responsible for were used for that purpose.
